Link the dots between significant events in banking and contemporary practices:

In one hour we will impart you and up to 10 other participants with a detailed overview of the origins of contemporary banking practices, often rooted in regulation. We will walk you through significant developments over the past 10 years and bring you up to speed with a contextualized understanding of banking today.

You are invited to dissect our analysis of the future of banking, based on regulatory changes to date and our understanding of their effects in the context of practice.

Context is everything, and banking is no exception to the rule. Our express morning talk will further develop your understanding of banking practice and can be usefully applied to many aspects of your legal practice going forward.

Programme:

i) A brief history of modern finance;

ii) The rules and regulations that preceded the Great Financial Crisis of 2008;

iii) The aftermath of the Crisis and how banking has since evolved;

iv) The contemporary landscape of finance and implications for lawyers.

Although the primary focus will be on investment banks we will also explore key concepts related to commercial and savings banks, as well as other financial institutions.

A hearty breakfast will be on hand for participants, along with excellent teas and coffees from the Delaunay brasserie.

The presentation will be led by Ambasuthan Jananayagam, Founder and CEO of Acumen.
